A Yoruba group, Voice of Reason (VOR), has said that only a presidential candidate who is ready to restructure Nigeria after the 2023 general elections will receive its endorsement.
The group said that a restructured Nigeria would serve everyone better.
VOR Chairman, Otunba Sola Adekanola, who spoke at a media briefing in Ikeja, at the weekend, said only one aspirant promised to restructure Nigeria if elected as president, wondering why other presidential aspirants are not talking about restructuring.
He said: “Our agenda is to unite the Yoruba. “What is not good for Yoruba agenda is personal ambition. Why are presidential aspirants not talking about restructuring? Is it that they are afraid?
“If the best man wins without a restructured federation, he can’t achieve much. He will be going in circle.”
Adekanola said that after the presidential primaries, the group would organise a debate and ensure that presidential candidates are committed to restructuring, which will be the condition to enjoy its support. adding: “If the best man that Yoruba is presenting is not for restructuring, we won’t support him.”
“If we restructure as we had under the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who turned South-West into Eldorado then, everything will be okay. In a restructured Nigeria, everyone is a winner. There’s nothing to fear.
